Kollam also known as prince of Arabian Sea and cashew capital of India is a coastal city which is situated which is situated on the Ashtamudi Lake’s bank. This city is bordered with Thiruvavanathapuram from the north portion and is well connected with all the cities through road, rail and backwater transport. This city was an international trade emporium and now also this beautiful city is a successful commercial center. The nearest airport of Kollam is Trivandrum International Airport.  Kollam is the fourth largest city of Kerala and its major activities are coir manufacturing and cashew processing.

A temple festival, Irupathiettam onam is celebrated every year on the onam’s 28th day.
Besides this, this city has many attractive tourist destinations which include Astamudi Lake which is the second largest lake of Kerala, clock tower which is the landmark of this city, Ashramam Picnic Village, Thangasseri, Kollam Beach and Thirumullavaram Beach, The Hanging Bridge at Punalur, Shendurney Wildlife Sanctuary, Palaruvi Waterfalls, and Jatayaupara which is the huge rocky hillock.
